The Reggia di Caserta is the largest royal palace in the world.

Considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1997, it is the largest royal residence in the world.    

34 stairs, 1,200 rooms, 1,742 windows and 42,000 square meters. The Royal Palace of Caserta is the largest royal palace in the world.

Three centuries after its construction, the Royal Palace has kept its splendor intact. It is a majesty that leaves you breathless.    

The Royal Palace of Caserta was commissioned by King Charles VII of the Bourbon dynasty, to serve as the administrative and court center of the new Kingdom of Naples, as well as a symbol of royal power. The monarch wanted to endow the Bourbon-Two Sicilies dynasty with a residence of the stature of the Palace of Versailles.

The renowned Neapolitan architect Luigi Vanvitelli was commissioned to direct its construction, who followed a rationalist baroque style, very close to Neoclassicism. Vanvitelli took over the design of the park and gardens, apart from directing the works of the palace.

Inside the building is also the magnificent theater: the only space completed entirely by Vanvitelli before his death.     

It extends over 120 hectares and is crossed by a real waterway formed by a series of pools, waterfalls and fountains that cover a total of 3 km.    

To visit everything, you can travel by bicycle, to reach the Italian garden and the farthest English garden, the last suggestion of the Royal Palace of Caserta.    

Here everything seems unreal, time seems to have stopped, between history and dreams.
